The story of Mahabharata is believed to be 5,000 years old, but it has been attracting people in every age.

The story of blockbuster film Baahubali also seems to be inspired from story of Mahabharata. There are some reasons for this –

  • Bheeshma and Katappa

In the story of Mahabharata, Bheeshma is a powerful character who is terrible in war and extremely loyal to the throne. Just like him, Katappa is also a great warrior and extremely loyal to the throne.

  • Dhritrashtra and Bijjaldev

In Mahabharata, Dhritrashtra is deprived of the crown because of being blind. Similarly in Baahubali, Bijjaldev is also deprived of that because of being handicapped. In both the stories, both Dhritrashtra and Bijjaldev are physically strong enough.

  • Gandhari and Shivgami

In Mahabharata, the queen mother Gandhari knows that his sons are doing injustice with their cousins but she keeps on silent. Just like that, in Baahubali the queen mother Shivgami is doing the same.

  • Draupadi and Devsena

In Mahabharata, queen Draupadi is insulted in court full of courtiers, but no one raises his voice against the injustice. The same also happens with Devsena.

Both Draupadi and Devsena provoke their husbands to take revenge of injustice happened with them.

  • Exile of Pandavas and Baahubali

As in Mahabharata, the pandavas are exiled under conspiracy, the same happens with Baahubali and Devsena.

  • Disguise of Arjuna and Baahubali

In Mahabharata, Arjuna lives in the kingdom of Virat in disguise of a women. Just like this, Baahubali lives in disguise of a weak-minded. In both the stories, suddenly enemy army attacks the kingdom where the hero is living in disguise, the hero either he is Arjuna or Baahubali has to disclose their identity in order to face the war and save the kingdom.

  • War for proving the ability of princes

In Mahabharata, Pandavas and Kauravas princes, after having completed their education, were sent to fight a war with Draupad. By getting over that war the princes had to prove their ability.

Similarly, in Baahubali 1st, the cousin princes Baahubali and Bhallaldeva had to fight a great war with Kalakeya. They had to prove their ability in that war. The victories prince was to be declared the successor of throne of Mahishmati.
