Siddhidatri is the 9th and last form of goddess among navdurga. Siddhidatri means ‘who gives perfection’. Here siddhi means – perfection, and datri means – who gives. Thus goddess siddhidatri gives perfection to whole of the universe.

According to legendary stories when the universe was not in existence, Lord Shiva worshiped Para-Shakti (The ultimate power) for creation of universe. Para-Shakti did not have any form or shape. Hence, she appeared from the left half of Lord Shiva in the form of Shiddhidatri. Thus, Lord Shiva became ‘Ardhanarishvara’.

According to legendary philosophy, Adi-Shakti (Goddess Siddhidatri) is the power of Lord Shiva. In fact, a man becomes perfect when he attains the power. Otherwise, without power a man is lifeless. Shakti (Power) gives the liveliness to whole of the universe. In the lack of power, the existence of universe is not possible. It is goddess Siddhidatri who grants power to this universe. By attaining Shakti (power) from goddess Adi-Shakti, Lord Shiva becomes the supreme power.

Shiva is the symbol of man and Shakti is a symbol of his liveliness. Shiva is nothing without Shakti. This is why, Shiva is also known as ‘Ardhanarishvara’.

Goddess Siddhidatri has the power of granting eight different boons to her devotees. These are all achieved (Siddh) by her. This is why she is called Siddhidatri. A devotee of goddess Siddhidatri can attain success from eight achievements, which are as under – Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakaamya, Ishitva and Vashitva.

Goddess Siddhidatri is also known as Laxmi – the goddess of health, wealth, prosperity and happiness. In her appearance goddess have four arms. In her right two arms she holds chakra and mace while in left two she holds lotus flower and canch. Her mount is flower of lotus.

Goddess Siddhidatri is the ultimate form of Shakti. She is perfect in every aspect. She is durga, she is parvati, she is laxmi. In fact all the women are the symbol of Shakti. The devotee of goddess gets everything when he gets perfection in himself by self-realization.
